Hair and nails are principally constituted by a protein called keratin, rich in cystine, an amino acid. Hair loss can be due to a reduction of cystine and/or a zinc deficiency. Nails can be altered due to a lack of zinc (breaking, splitting, white marks). Only a varied and balanced diet can be a source of nutritional balance. However, to compensate the nutritional deficiency, a supplementation in specific vitamins in minerals can be considered.
